The COVID-19 vaccine is available at most Lewis Drug locations. We have worked diligently to care for our customers through the COVID-19 pandemic, and we will continue to do so. What to Bring to Your COVID-19 Vaccination:

  • Commercial Insurance card or Medicare Red, White and Blue card. There is no charge to the patient for this vaccine, insured or uninsured.
  • Allow 15 minutes (in some cases 30 minutes) to be observed after your shot.

Bivalent COVID-19 Booster

As of August 31, 2022, the FDA and CDC have approved a bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine by both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna for individuals ages 6 months and older. Individuals are eligible for these bivalent vaccine boosters at least 2 months after their last COVID-19 vaccine dose (either primary series dose or booster dose). Bivalent COVID vaccine is currently available at your local Lewis Drug pharmacy. Some vaccine quantities may be limited, please check to determine the availability of vaccine at a Lewis Drug near you.

What COVID-19 vaccine does Lewis offer?

On April 18, 2023, the FDA updated COVID-19 vaccination recommendations. Monovalent (original) mRNA COVID-19 vaccinations are to no longer be used for vaccination. Going forward, the updated (bivalent) mRNA Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines will be used to immunize against COVID-19. Currently, Lewis offers the following COVID-19 vaccine products available in the U.S.: Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Novavax (at select locations). Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 3 years - 11 years are available only at SELECT Lewis Drug pharmacies. Do I need a booster dose?

The CDC recommends everyone stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, including all primary series doses and boosters, if indicated, for their age group.

Per the CDC, you are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccine when you receive all doses in the primary series and all boosters recommended for you, when eligible.

As of April 18, 2023: booster doses of the bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer) were approved for those older than 65 years of age (may receive dose if it has been at least 4 months since last bivalent dose) or immunocompromised individuals (must be 2 months since las bivalent dose)

Which booster dose is right for me?

Summary of recent changes (last updated April 22, 2023):

  • Revision of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccination schedule as follows:
    • At the time of initial vaccination, depending on vaccine product, children ages 6 months–4 years are recommended to receive 2 or 3 bivalent mRNA vaccine doses; children age 5 years are recommended to receive 1 or 2 bivalent mRNA vaccine doses
    • People ages 6 years and older who are unvaccinated or previously received only monovalent vaccine doses are recommended to receive 1 bivalent mRNA vaccine dose
    • People ages 65 years and older may receive 1 additional bivalent mRNA vaccine dose

Is the COVID-19 vaccine free?

Yes, it is free. There is no cost to you, insured or uninsured, to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

Who is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine?

The FDA and CDC have approved Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months of age or older. Pharmacists at Lewis Drug pharmacy locations are authorized by the PrepAct to administer vaccinations for patients ages 3 years and older. Patients younger than 3 years of age should visit their pediatrician or health care provider to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Children under the age of 18 will need parent/guardian authorization and they must be present at the vaccination.

Do I need an appointment?

Most of our locations welcome walk-ins between 10am and 4pm; however scheduling an appointment may be beneficial to decrease your wait time. If you would like to schedule an appointment or confirm specific manufacturer availability at your local Lewis, please call and speak with an associate.
