Do I need a booster dose?

The FDA has approved 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccines for those 6 months and older with some restrictions. On September 19, 2025, the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended that COVID-19 vaccination for individuals six months and older be a decision made individually with a healthcare provider, emphasizing that the benefits of vaccination are most favorable for those at higher risk for severe disease. This means that there is no universal mandate or single recommendation for everyone, but rather a process of shared clinical decision-making between the patient and their provider. **Note: as of 9/30/2025, the CDC has yet to adopt these as official 2025-2026 guidance. Individuals under the age of 64 years, with qualifying underlying conditions

may be vaccinated; those less than 64 years of age with no underlying medical conditions may need to obtain a prescription from their physician (state dependent). Individuals aged 65 or older may receive

a 2025-2026 COVID19 vaccine regardless of underlying conditions.

There is no preferential recommendation for the use of any one COVID-19 vaccine over another when more than one recommended and age-appropriate vaccine is available.

Children under the age of 18 will need parent/guardian authorization and they must be present at the vaccination.
