If you’re tired of carving the same old jack-o-lantern every year, try one of these quick and clever alternatives. Perfect for the porch, a Halloween party or just to have some fun with the kids, these pumpkin projects are easy as pie.
Pick out a large pumpkin and a 4–6” pot of mums. Remove the top of the pumpkin, clean it out and let it dry. Then put the mums—including the plastic pot—inside the pumpkin. Decorate with a ribbon or some moss and you’re done!
If you’re throwing a party for Halloween or Oktoberfest, this is a fun way to keep drinks cold. You’ll need a plastic punch bowl and an extra large pumpkin that’s taller and wider than your bowl. Cut the top ¼ or so off the pumpkin and clean it out. Then insert the bowl and fill it up with punch, or ice and bottles. Don’t forget to paint the pumpkin to let guests know what’s inside.
Kids will love this one! Pick out an orange or white pumpkin and a pack of crayons. Take the paper off the crayons and lay them flat around the crown of the pumpkin. Hold them in place with a dot of glue. Then get out a hair dryer and start melting. Just make sure to cover your work surface because you’ll definitely be coloring outside the lines!
