Summary:

Assigns duties to workers and schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations. 
Trains workers in store policies, department procedures, and job duties.  Orders
merchandise, supplies, and equipment.  Records delivery of merchandise, compares
record with merchandise ordered, and reports discrepancies to control costs and maintain
correct inventory levels.  Inspects merchandise to be sold in department.  Prepares sales
and inventory reports.  Listens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise,
and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations.  Assists sales workers
in completing difficult sales.  Sells merchandise.  Approves checks written for payment of
merchandise purchased in department.  Installs and removes department cash-register-receipt
tape and audits cash receipts.  Plans department layout or merchandise or advertising display.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with corporate personnel in projecting the proper visual image in the store.
  • Store signing plans are implemented and maintained.
  • Main aisle displays and end caps are in compliance with plans and policies.
  • Service counters and checkstand appearance meet standards.
  • Suggestions are made to the Buyers in any area in need of visual improvements.
  • Works with Area Supervisors regarding merchandising issues.
  • Assists with initial set up of new plano-grams as needed.
  • Insures compliance with corporate standards on all new and existing plano-grams.
  • Assists with the set up of all seasonal merchandise.
  • Works with store personnel to ensure adequate in-stock levels on all basic merchandise.
  • Trains new and existing personnel in proper merchandising methods.
  • Works with buyers and distribution center personnel in effectively controlling the flow of merchandise to the store.
  • Works with the Store Manager and other personnel in advertising related issues.
  • Assists in the set up of special merchandising displays related to ads
  • Ensures that corporate signing directives are followed in relation to ads.
  • Works with merchandising team in order to ensure in-stock status on all advertised merchandise.
  • Assists the Store Manager in all management related merchandising functions.
  • Works with buyers, area supervisors, and department managers to ensure that each area of the store is in compliance with inventory control directives
  • Attends merchandise related meetings and communicates relevant information to store personnel
  • Works with buyers in deciding profitable and competitive pricing for all items.
  • Completes any other function as directed by the Store Manger or the corporate merchandising team.

  • Supports the management scheduling procedures of the particular store.
  • Ability to effectively communicate merchandising plans clearly and concisely in a fast paced environment.
  • Supports corporate merchandising directives.
  • Acts as an advocate in the store for the Buying Staff and the General Merchandise Manager. Assists the merchandising team in turning new ideas into reality.
  • Assists in creating a successful working environment.
  • Takes ownership of all store merchandising issues.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive hands on merchandising experience.
  • Ability to teach others and lead by example.
  • Able to build a store merchandising team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to move or relocate as needed.
  • Has completed all Floor Manager training.
